How long does an acupuncture session take?
Acupuncture sessions at Meridian Healing Centre take approximately one hour.
Before you receive acupuncture, Dr Kirk Wilson will conduct a Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis. This diagnosis will determine the acupuncture protocol you will receive for that particular session. According to the model of Chinese Medicine, it is important for a diagnosis to be conducted prior to each acupuncture session. This ensures the acupuncture protocol can be better customised for the condition as presented in each patient at that exact moment in time.
Most acupuncture patients will receive a short back massage to help them relax before they receive their acupuncture needles. Then once the acupuncture needles are administered, they will remain in situ for between 20 to 25 minutes. Depending on the condition being addressed and the anatomical locations of the acupuncture needles, moxibustion may be administered whilst the needles remain in situ. When the acupuncture needles are removed, most patients will receive cupping.
The acupuncture protocols at Meridian Healing Centre take a holistic approach and are administered with an attention to detail. Each session will take no longer than one hour.
