Health Fund Rebates: Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine

In Australia, acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine are now registered medical professions. They are both regulated by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. A benefit of national registration is that all registered practitioners are recognised by all health funds.

Each health fund and their respective levels of cover. They will differ on the amount of money which will be refunded after each treatment.  No matter which fund you belong to, the chances are, you will have a limit as to how much money you can claim in a calendar year. Some funds will give a large refund for a small number of treatments whilst other funds may offer a small refund over a greater amount of treatments. Be sure to you choose a fund which best suits you and your wider health care needs.

Please note that one claim can be made for each consultation. If you receive acupuncture and herbal medicine on the same day, only one claim can be made.

Kirk Wilson at Meridian Healing Centre is a registered acupuncturist and Chinese herbal medicine practitioner. His treatments are recognised by all health funds in Australia.
